Spring basics

31 Mar
One single sunbeam was enough to make me rethink my spring looks. When it comes to basign, I’m the man (or maybe the lady). I love basis pieces for their timelessness and versatility. I’ve probably told you before that I am not a fashionista, therefore I would not mind much wearing a classy color or one that suits me simply because it it not trendy. Being stylish is more than being  trendy, let’s face it!
A beige trench coat is a must in everyone’s closet, as much as a classy pair of pumps and one of loafers (if you insist to be trendy, pick them in burgundy).
Pick a red blazer and a colourful silk scarf to spice up your black&white business attaire. I prefer the black&white polka dots blouse to the stripped one for the girlish touch it could bring to an outfit. As for the pencil leather skirt, this is my new darling.
I hope this will prove useful for your spring looks! I am sure I have not included all the key, basis items, threfore I welcome and ideas of yours.
Have a great Sunday and a productive week!

The dress code is something we should consider every time we go to an event. Maybe the florist or the shop assistant do not care how we dress, but when with a crowd, we should blend in. Following a certain dress code is not a matter of style, but a matter of politeness, a way to show that we care about others, not opnly about ourselves. Therefore, when in doubt, overdress! And by this I do not mean put the most glamourous dress on, but stick to the basics when it comes to colours and cuts. Maybe you want to be original, but you will never make a good impression wearing a bright pink dress when everyone else is wearing black. Try something else insetead. An accessory would be a good idea to differentiate yet not make a bad shot.

Weekend Fashion Fairs

2 Mar

Spring, spring is here! Oh, I am so happy to see a sunbeam, it gives me so much energy that I am about to jog (I do not jog, I rarely go to the gym). Plus, I am about to change the clothes I have been wearing for the last couple of months. I do not like boots, nor I like coats. I would go for flats and blazers at any time of the year.

Of course, this is also a good opportunity to add something to our wardrobes and some people have aready thought we are thinking about it and they are organizing many fashion and vintage fairs this month. I have been to  one last  weekend and there are many more this weekend. Young designers clothes and jewelries, vintage clothes and accessories, decorations, martisoare…you can have them all if you are in Bucharest.

Fashion Picnic, Saturday @ Libraria Bastiliei, with AerWear and Subset

Lady March, Saturday@Gaia Boutique, for Mandra Chic or Jai Dam

Jenna Lyons, designer for J. Crew (yes, J. Crew again!) is one of my favourite fashionistas around. With a net, basic-pieces looks, she still remains one of the favourites of the fashion magazines and is the proof that you do not need to put on the latest or the most expensive items to look great. It is enough to have a few basics in your wardrobe and some insipration. Jeans, black pumps, white shirt….we all have to have them, a classy beige, greige, dust pink coat..advised, easy to find @mass market brands (I own one from last year@Zara) and an original touch coming from the accessories. The necklace could make the difference if you want to stand out. Voila, the perfect outfit! Did you try such an outfit? ‘Cause I could the entire month dressed like this!

Valentine’s Day is here

13 Feb

There is so much red around these days! I know, I know…everybody is celebrating Valentine’s Day! But guess what!? I don’t and never did. Well…maybe when I was around 15 years old. Afterall, it is not because I have grown up now, but because I have realized we should not need one single&special day to spread the love around us, to make gifts and be nice to eachother (meaning the loved ones). We can and we should buy chocolate, dine out or drink a glass of champagne without a reason.
However, the consumerist inside does not allow me not to make a short list of items that could be nice V Day gifts or any occasion romantic gifts.
I really love the Love Letters book and I must admit I would actually start celebrating V Day if I knew I would get one of these! As for flowers, good chocolate and candles, I never have enough of them.

V Day presents for her

And do not forget to add champagne to your list, some sushi and maybe macaroons!
Have a happy Valentine’s Day and a romantic year!
